About
About Phil Phails
Phil Phails is an independent long-form conversation project created and hosted by Phillip Jones.
The show explores resilience, identity, endurance, philosophy, suffering, masculinity, meaning, and the lifelong process of becoming.
Through conversations with athletes, artists, thinkers, coaches, creators, therapists, performers, and everyday people, Phil Phails aims to create space for honest dialogue in a culture increasingly shaped by speed, distraction, and performance.
These conversations are not built around certainty or expertise alone. They are built around curiosity, reflection, struggle, growth, and the belief that meaningful dialogue can change how we understand ourselves and each other.

About the Host
Phil Phails is created, produced, and hosted by Phillip Jones.
Phillip is a podcast host and producer based in Austin, Texas. His work centers around long-form conversation, personal development, and the psychology of resilience—particularly how people navigate identity, discipline, relationships, and meaning during periods of uncertainty or transition.
His perspective comes not just from interviewing others, but from years of direct engagement in the same subject matter. Over the past decade, Phillip has been actively involved in psychotherapy, coaching, and structured personal development work—including individual and co-parenting therapy, couples therapy, and long-term therapeutic support focused on communication, emotional regulation, and relational dynamics.
Alongside clinical work, he has pursued extensive training in psychology, communication, and human behavior, including cognitive behavioral approaches, dialectical behavior therapy concepts, mindfulness-based stress reduction, emotional intelligence training, and nonviolent communication. He has also participated in leadership development programs and workshops focused on complexity, trust, and interpersonal effectiveness.
This background informs the tone of Phil Phails: grounded, unhurried conversations that prioritize honesty over performance, and inquiry over conclusion.
Rather than positioning himself as an expert outside the work, Phillip approaches the podcast as someone still actively engaged in it—asking questions alongside his guests, not from above them.
